Buyer's Review
This is by far my favorite magazine from any country. I only wish the foreign subscription price would come down! This magazine has so much going for it -- it is a huge champion of organic growing, sustainable living, energy-saving initiatives, new technologies to produce the energy we need, and preserving the beautiful traditional crafts and ways of living that are timeless and so worthy of perpetuating. There is authenticity in the home interiors -- these are real homes decorated by quirky, interesting people, not the cookie-cutter interiors we see in American magazines. And this is NOT a magazine that is all about how the wealthy live! The homes are within the range most of us could see ourselves living in, and we come away with new ideas we can actually afford to implement.
I feel so grateful to have discovered this gem!

Buyer's Review
I have been collecting this magazine since about 2004, I know because I won't lend, recycle or pack them away! There is nothing on the US market to compare with this wonderful magazine, nothing. It's overall quality goes beyond home decor, or tasty recipes, or gardening features; it has superior paper stock, photography (and color separations), typography and its "look" is both refreshing and clean.

If that isn't enough, there is a tenderness for both village and countryside that is only surpassed by hearing from their own readers about their lives in the rural parts of the country. My favorite is the double page spread of the wittiest, most endearing blurbs about the reader's own pets. The monthly magazine also includes the realities of small holdings (livestock), and their allotments, and most touching, how their children can be brought into the natural world on a daily basis.

My one wish would be to beg, implore, demand (!) that they publish twice a month! Not a false, trivial, or superflous note from cover to cover. Try it and make room on that bookshelf for all the back issues you too will not part with!

Buyer's Review
I genuinely enjoy each issue that arrives at my door in a setting that is not country. Nonetheless, it is for reading about, learning of, and seeing pictures of authentic country ways and people that I choose this selection instead of the U.S. mag of the same name. There are few ads in this copy, and all ads relate in some way to rural life--even the ads of available country homes in the English countryside. All the snippets of text and longer articles are fun to read and something to sit down with. The pictures are beautiful and captured with attention to small details. The ideas for decorating inspire me also because I go for rustic cottage appeal that integrates modern touches here and there for updating and staying with the current. This magazine embraces the country life without offering pictures of ideas that more resemble times gone by than today.

Aside from the preferences mentioned here, I like to look into books that are produced and printed in another country because it's a learning experience about another culture and place.

Buyer's Review
I loved buying this occasionally on the newsstand, and when Country Home (US) folded, this British magazine filled the gap. first issue arrived in only 11 weeks, sooner than the 12-16 weeks projected by Amazon.
update: still a great mag, but the second issue never arrived. good customer service, they sent replacement promptly. the problem with imported mags is that you don't know when to expect their arrival.
update2: they answered my email question about when to expect issues (by 15th of month) and the Feb issue arrived promptly on the 11th.

Buyer's Review
Not necessary to be an Anglophile to enjoy this mag! Though I miss my home away from home, there are reasons other than it being British that make me love CL UK. Don't be fooled by the title - this magazine is SO different from its American counterpart - its ACTUALLY about living in the country - country houses, country recipes, country gardening, ideas for what to do OUTSIDE in the country. Country Living US has become townie/quasi-cottage, but it is not about rural village life at all. Soak up the charm of the British countryside; learn about traditional trades; travel to quaint hotspots; scan the real estate listings like you're actually considering purchasing a second home in the Coswolds!; shop online for great products otherwise available only in the UK; try your hand at everything from putting up your own marmalade or keeping hens to comparative cooker browsing and upscale English Country interior decorating! Absolutely my favorite read!!!
